Full length scuff sheets...
« on: November 09, 2011, 10:59:23 PM »

What's everyones thoughts on these, bought some antiscuff by the roll and its occured to me as to why this hasnt caught on to use a full length scuff, it would preserve stickers as well as doing the usualy scuff sheet job...

i;ve seen a few DF's with it and it seems like a very logical idea to me!

I have a full length scuff sheet on my MB Malik LE because it has paint.

I believe when you peel the scuff sheet of the stickers might come off as well :S

Would it not add to the dead weight, though not more than an oz

Also if you need to do some DiY on your bat then as CD mentioned. The stickers would come off

Personally I don't like this idea.

But good thought to have, will help sell rolls of scuff tape faster :)

I use full length scuff sheets on all my bats.

The stickers do NOT come off when you take the scuff sheet off. It's a fallacy.

I would not use a bat any other way.

Yeah the stickers don't come off as long as they're stuck on properly - if they aren't properly stuck on, or they're fakes, they will peel off when you remove the scuff sheet. I use full length scuff sheets on blank bats that I've refurbed or just removed the stickers to protect the splice area, which is what stickers do.

Although I don't personally see the point of protecting the stickers. Do they need protecting?

Stickers do not need protecting! :)

However, for bat nerds like myself who want their bat to look brand new all the time, chaging teh full length scuff returns the bat to it's (almost) brand new look.

Also, it protects the shoulders too.

Its ridiculous i dont think it looks that nice and a bit of tape around the the top of the bat does a much better job of protecting the shoulders.

I think so, i think its looks smart on the Peter Trego bat and i always but some on mine if the shoulders get a bit of use.

fair enough, each to their own i suppose. In my opinion the tape, although would do a much better job (not that i think the scuff and tape would be for the same job) just appears as though the bat is broken, and the tape isnt aesthetically pleasing over the stickers, this isnt the end of the world, as aesthetics count for very very little.

Think you've hit the nail on the head saying aesthetics count for very little there but saying that i do like a used looking bat!

i think the subject of tape around the top and full length scuff sheets are not comparible, i mean the scuff sheet in a vein and surface damage respect, where as the tape will increase rigidity of the handle, splice and upper areas.

For those of us who refurb bats when they start to look tatty or jaded, this could be a good option to save money, only if, as stated by vic the stickers do not peel off. As then new stickers would not be required, it would protect the upper areas of the bat from cracking (i have found a few bats i have owned have cracked further up the edge) and for the weight gain issue, it would so minimal that it shouldnt be an issue, we are talking an extra 20cm from a normal scuff sheet. If it is an issue then the weight of the sheet further up the bat sohuld counteract that of the weight of the sheet fruther down, weight really really shouldn't be an issue though. It is fairly discreet too if a clear scuff is used.
