Anyone got any tips on reducing or removing cracks. Apart from gluing and sanding.

It doesn't remove or reduce them, but if you cut your old grips into 1 inch sections they are good at clamping cracks whilst gluing.

yes, I use rubber bands for the edges.

Plane it to strip it down to bare wood. Works a treat.

sounds a bit drastic. Doesn't that take alot of wood off the surface?

You have to do it pretty carefully without the blade extruding too much, and you need to of practised a bit as well or you might just ruin your bat. I just practised on a pine plank until I was confident enough to do it on my bat.
