For the last 4-5 years I have had an outdoor practice pretty early. Normally the first couple of weeks in jan. aslong as its dry it's fine. Must admit I've never worn one on the thigh though.

We normally just stick a hoodie on when your batting and you soon warm up.

we used to play outside during the winter in tennis courts with hockey balls. My mate went for a catch and because his finger were not warm enough to react quick enough, the ball hit him fluch on the top part of his thumb. The lower part of the thumb bone  broke through his skin. You could see the broken bone and the inside of his hand. Be very careful!

I was going to say it is Just about freezing at the moment!
4-5 would be fine, but i can't imagine the pain of wearing one inner thigh in this weather mate!

I always net in the cold in the winter, it's fun as long as it's dry. Wear warm clothes, and when you bat you'll forget about the temperature.
