County Championship's strongest tails
« on: April 28, 2012, 12:03:51 AM »

Following on from the earlier topic about Australia having a very strong tail, what are everyone's thoughts about the Counties scene? Personally, as a Warwickshire fan, it's great to see that our tail end is looking incredibly strong.

In the first three games it's great to see there's people chipping in with Barker having a 48 and a 33 to his name, Clarke a 140 and 78* (both batting at 9!), 27 and Patel with a match-winning 43*, all in games against title contenders, not chumps.

Can any other counties match up?!

You've got Chris Woakes when he comes back from injury as well.

I remember in the late 90s when every regular Lancs player had a First Class century to their name. Now in my opinion that was a very strong tail.

Present tails, I'd have to agree with you there with Warickshire to be honest

If everyone is available Yorkshire have Bresnan, Rashid, Pyrah, Shahzad, Sidebottom 7-11 which is pretty strong

Well slot Woakes in for Chris Wright and everyone DOES have a first class century. Their current number 9 (Keith barker) averages about 32 off the top of my head! Lancs bat pretty deep, Kyle Hogg at 10 is pretty decent! Somerset too, Philander will bat at 10 and averages 26 in FC cricket, Notts do okay with luke fletcher (probably more of a hitter than anythingm, but a good one!) at 10, Durham bat deep, etc. Decent tails around in the CC!
