Given the complete washout that we've had for what is basically the first month of the season, I've been thinking and decided that maybe we'd be better of playing cricket in the winter when, although a little chilly, it's drier and the pitches aren't affected quite so badly by rain... Or any other form of precipitation ,and a decent frost could provide a nice hard track...

Admittedly, we'd have to start at 10am on a Saturday to get the game in in daylight, but it would be better than what we've seen at the start of this season, wouldn't it...

Beanie hats and gloves would also be allowed....

Your thoughts?

September is normally a really good month for weather. Also April (disregarding this year) has been a gret month for the last few years.
 If 'Global warming' continues I see the cricket season being extended.

Maybe not winter, but I agree the cricket season does need to adapt to the changing climate. Back in the old days May 'til September was the ideal time where there was little rain and lots of sun, however in recent years we have had cricket weather in March/April and September/October which suggests that the cricketing calender needs to be changed.

However the major problems with that is that the season then clashes with Football, and as soon as you start playing cricket in September and/or April, sods law dictates that it will rain tons in those months..

this is a freak spell of bad weather. dont think i'd had back to back abandonments since 2007 before this season. give it 2-3 more weeks and we'll be fine.

We had more washouts this season just gone here in Oz than I can remember in at least the last 30 years
