Opinion on Asics speed menace's
« on: June 03, 2012, 02:33:56 PM »

Hi Guys

I know that there are a few topics already on this subject, but I wanted an up to date opinion on these spikes

Any good?
Whats the comfort factor in the field when not bowling?
Are they lightweight?
Are they supportive?

There isn't a cricket shop near me so I can't try them on.
Currently have Adidas Mid spikes with the strap. Good boots but quite heavy and not the greatest when in the field.

Cheers
Dan

my mates got a Aussy pair and says the spike come out easy - but he might be wrong... dont know what they feel like etc, and it will be different for different people too.

Think I might go for some Strike Rates 2011 full spike. I have only heard good things

Has anyone else got these?

I am a medium pacer who wants a bit more flexibility in a cricket shoe. Something that provides comfort at all times, and not just when bowling.

As long as you dont drag you toe much, should be fine, medium pacers can bowl in sandals. Also the gel advanced are good to, very light

I have the speed menace shoes, although I do not bowl that much.  I need them more for support than anything else, as I have had several ankle problems, allied to flat feet.  With my new orthotics in, they are incredibly comfortable to bat and field all day in!

I nearly got some this year but I went for the Adidas Low 4's in the end, really comfy and quite light

for me it was between the speed menace's and the adidas midIV's.  The adidas ones were too narrow though, so asics it was!

I had the old Adidas mid iii's and I hated them, felt too clumpy and not comfortable at all, only wore them for about 6 games.

This ebay store has decent prices on a few different models of Asics though - http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/261050921129?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&adtype=pla
