Newbery Shoulder Stamps
« on: September 05, 2012, 06:41:03 PM »

Hello All,
I don't know if this have been discussed before but does anyone know about the shoulder stamps on Newbery bats. Which code means year of manufacturing ?
Will there be Newberys without those stamps?

There is a topic on this somewhere, but you'll have to use the search function.

2005 was the first year so is letter A, 2006 = B and the numbers are month, 1 = Jan, 2 = Feb

Searching for 'newbery shoulder stamps' brings up quite an entertaining debate in ebay tat with Pro Cricket and the mythical creature Talisman.

You can start to make some sense of it but then it just takes off!!

I think it's the year of manufacturing denoted by a letter and different shape by the number...?

The letter denotes the year the bat was made.....

2006 was A
2007 was B
2008 was C
etc.
The letters did go back further as well, as I had a Y lettered bat which would have been from 2004.

The number denotes the batch from what I remember. I had a conversation a few years ago with a guy from Newbery and he went through this with me - although he may of just been winding me up for all I know!  ;)
