hockey gloves
« on: September 06, 2012, 08:00:49 PM »

I was just wondering if anybody has ever used hockey gloves instead of cricket gloves. havent seen any in the flesh myself, but from the pictures they do seem quite flexible and surely must provide the same level of protection as the conventional cricket glove

They do not provide the same level of protection...
Very thin protection as you never have a ball 'blasted' at you at like 80mph

are you talking about Ice Hockey gloves? puck in ice hockey is hard plastic/rubber and can cause serious damage so those gloves might be adaptable..here is an example pic..

But if you are talking abt regular ground hockey, i just assumed they used cricket gloves :o

(Ground) hockey gloves I think would work well indoors as well as a pair of nice keeper pads ???

During the Olympics, some hockey players wore cricket gloves when their were corners etc.

At short corners they do use cricket gloves, however during regular open play they use other gloves which offer less protection and would not be suitable against a cricket ball (although having broken a few fingers in my time playing hockey wish they did offer more protection!!!).
