Ninja Pads Review
« on: August 16, 2012, 05:24:00 PM »

I bought a set of these from Joe (Ninja Cricket). First up have to say brilliant service from Joe - ordered and paid late on Tuesday night - received by courier well wrapped etc. on the Saturday morning.  I won't put the price on here - Joe happy for you to add if you want.

Ok so shops do next day delivery etc. But knowing quite well how distribution businesses work, it's far easier when you have multiple orders going out on a daily basis.  long and short 3 days is more than satisfactory.

Onto the kit itself !!

These pads are LIGHT, I don't have particularly accurate scales but would suggest less than 500g - they are 2 strap so may not be for everyone, but without question, ease of movement in these is a huge positive.

You may expect that would be at the expense of protection - nope - getting nailed flush on these at 80mph from a Bowling machine - didn't feel a thing.  They are also not 'high' rebound so no real fear, for example, of playing bat pad to an off spinner and being caught at extra cover !! They just rebound quite 'dead'.

They are really well finished - good length straps, detachable inserts (easy to air them and keep them dry) strong finishing around the bottom so they don't look like fraying and falling apart.

They are a good shape - not too extreme and shouldn't attract too much negative chat from the field - bit different I guess, but still maintain a Pretty traditional look.

They are great pads full stop.... Very comfortable, well designed, look good, very light, discreet branding and ultimately good protection.

I'll make this review balanced ( but it is kinda hard to find real fault) so there are 2 small negatives. Cleaning them is not as easy as PU pads, they are a rougher external finish and therefore hold grime a little easier, to be honest nothing that a damp sponge and fairy doesn't sort however.  I guess most people know this with this type of pad.

Second is the wrap factor (not snoop) - I have pretty big calf muscles (grrrrrr no I'm not some vain idiot) playing hockey and football all my life has decided this.  This does mean that this area is a little exposed....this my not be an issue for everyone and after all - use the bat right ??? But on a serious note as they have 2 straps your calf's are a little exposed.

Happy to answer any questions anyone may have - In short these are really pretty damn good......
