M&H Double Decker Bag
« on: August 27, 2012, 08:35:40 PM »

Has anyone used one of these?  I was considering buying one.  It looks awfully big and doesn't have a dedicated bat cave.  Yet it would fit my regular gear and keeper gear quite well.  I would love to get the opinion form someone whose seen one in the flesh.

Hi Hima, it's a quality bag.  We did a YouTube review of it recently:

Hope this helps.  Due to its depth, the bottom decker is best used to store multiple bats (arguably eliminating the need for a bat cave), with the top decker being better for everything else...

I have one, its great.

You can fit in loads of gear ... I have 4 bats and wicketkeeping gear in there.

There arent any individual compartments on the inside but some on the outside. Another thing, it doesnt tilt over when you are wheeling it along like some other bags do.

Would recommend it.

Check out ItsJustCrickets links above .... shows you exactly what it is like and i have purchased some gear from Paul and he is excellent to deal with.

Hi Paul, I saw your video and that got me interested in it.  Debating between that and the GM duplex wheelie.  I think I like the double decker a bit better because I think I'll be able to make a custom bat holder with some foam in the lower compartment.

Btw Garrett, do you ever find it too big or bulky?  That's my only concern about it.

If you want a bag get one of these

http://www.cicadasports.co.uk/cricket/cricket-bags/cicada-impetus-cricket-wheelie

I've got one and they are HUGE

I carry my batting gear around, helmet, 2 bats, 2 sets of keeping great and there is room for another set of gear!

3 wheels and looks perfect

for £40 its amazing value

i need to upload the pictures of all my cicada stuff soon

I like the M&H but the top section is to big for my needs, I need a bag with a bottom section big enough for my batting gear and then a top section i can stick my whites and a few other bits into. And a few pockets on the outside and inside of the bag...

I think the kook1000 is my best bit but might be a little to big..

Any ideas??

I did pretty much what the op is/was looking to do...Dead simple too (I'm crap at any kind of handywork/DIY and managed it!). The bats are properly protected and I can fit 5 (each with fair sized spines!) just nicely in

Works superbly tbf - and I give my kitbag a proper lugging around!

That's exactly the intention when I get mine.  Although I was going to use foam, I guess a lastic box would brring more rigidity to it...

I was originally going to use foam, though sounded like a major piece of work (my initial plane was to wrap the bats in clingfilm then use expanding foam for a properly professional touch!), but frankly the above (with non-padded bat sleeves - I wouldn't be so keen to have wood touching wood (oo er!) ) worked just fine. It fits the 5 bats just perfectly as they rest against each other with just the right amount of 'give'. If you have less bats it's easily changeable by drilling different end holes.

I was just going to use thick layers of foam sheeting and cut holes out for each bat.

Yup this is essentially what I had in mind as well.  Nice collection of bats, is that a M&H master with the purple grip?
