Small men's and youths? Is there a difference?
« on: August 25, 2012, 08:03:37 PM »

I am a keen village cricketer and kit hoarder, so naturally my number of bats owned far exceeds my batting average; however, I DO like to match my gloves! I have smallish hands - a kookaburra small men's fits nicely! Is this size the same as youths in other companies - are kookaburra just saving my ego by not selling me teenagers gloves??

You will find that small mens for UK brands is normally a standard sized Indian mens size glove. I would say there isn't much different between youth and small mens, I would say it depends on the sizing of the brand.

There is a slight difference in the length as I have both youth and small mens. Puma makes small mens and youth sizes too.

Ah! I wonder if Salix may be tempted to do a small men's edition? I have a pair of youths pod blacks, which, whilst being truly awesome gloves, are just a little bit snug - I've already tried the men's size and they were too big!

For some manufacturers yes they are the same size, but Youths are usually a lower end glove and SM a top end.

It really varies.

Have never bought SS gloves, but judging by manufacturer try small mens or Youths from Hunts County or Mongoose.

So are youths gloves a lower quality than small men's? I'll be gutted if they are as they're often the same price as the full size men's!

No, I wouldn't say they are. It's just usual that youths size gloves are available at the lower end of the market, they won't be any difference in quality to the mens size model.

Sometimes they are, most often they're lower quality when they're a lower price.

It alright fellas - I've splashed out on a pair of small men's kahuna players gloves! That should sort my sizing, quality and ego woes! I'll review them once they've arrived and seen a bit of action!!
