GN Players helmet review
« on: September 01, 2012, 12:28:31 PM »

After spotting one of these on the TV a while ago I decided to try get my hands on one. Picked it up on ebay for £27 posted. First impressions are quit good. Nice design and great padding and not to heavy even with a steel grill.

Turned up in a nice black bag which will most likely be stuck up in the loft as I have no real use for it.

As you can see the padding is fantastic and makes the lid really comfy to wear.

Now something that I did find quite nice is the chin strap clip. To release it all you have to do is tug on the little red strap and  pop its undone. I have not tried it with gloves on but will update the thread once I have had a net.

As for sizing I got the mens size which comes with 3 sweat pads for your forehead. These are 3 differant thicknesses and as I have a small head I will be stitching the two thickest pads together so I get a snug fit. Will also be trying to get my hands on another set as spares.. (anybody retailers with contacts at GN please get in touch if you can get a spare set)

As for the weight it weighs in at 785grams which is not to bad but I hope to get my hands on a Ti grill from somewhere which should bring the weight below 700grams.

Air vents on the lid look really smart and offer good ventilation.

So in a nut shell  :D.. Great lid for the price only down side is you can only use a GN Ti grill for this type of lid.... But once you have got one your all set...

Just had an email from GN regarding a Ti grill for this lid.. Not wanted I wanted to hear. They don't stock spare Ti grills and cant source one.. So if you buy one of these lids get the Ti grill version... think I might have to now reconsider my options  :(

What about Puma Ti grills? These look similar to Pumas...any chance of a pic of the area where grill attaches to the helmet with out the cover on?

think these type of grille inserts into the helmet rather than screwing on doesnt it so would need to be an exact match?
