Salix Pod Grade One Review
« on: September 22, 2012, 10:47:07 PM »

I have always been admirer of Salix due to perfection and proficient in cricket field. 'Perfection' is certainly not a strong term here to describe Salix's adroit in cricket equipment business. In my book, Andrew J. Kember is among worlds top three podshavers, other two being his colleague at John L. Newbery's atelier in Sussex. No matter what, Salix is one of the few brands in cricket whose products are always on my wish-list.

Time did not come until ItsJustCricket had this remarkable summer sale, I vividly remember the time when I saw the thread where Paul announced the offer, it was nearly 4 AM in Lahore, Pakistan where I had just finished my dawn meal during Month of Ramadhan, I was going through the thread via my BlackBerry, as soon I saw Salix on ItsJustCricket I sent Paul an email inquiring about it. Paul was extremely prompt in his reply and while I was interested in top end one but I had narrowly missed it (later I found out it went in hands of those fraudsters!  >:( ). I saw the video review of Paul which was just to catch the glimpse of the bat, I didn't need any convincing when it came to Salix. So bat was ordered along other bits (Nike spikes, Salix Pod Pro bag (I would like to thank Tim2000s for making me aware of such brilliant bag) and other small bits (grips, rubber spikes, edge tap et cetra)).

It was no-brainer to opt out for knocking service as I can safely say it is best service in the whole world period. Furthermore, bearing in mind how incompetent I am when it comes to knocking so it was must! ItsJustCricket was swamped with the orders and the 'KnockingMan' aka Bil became busier than Barack Obama so I specifically requested Paul to be lenient on Bil regarding my Salix knocking because I was in no rush as I would not be seeing the bat till next four weeks. To my amusement, it was an expeditious knocking service, Bil was very efficient and quicker than SeriousCricket's machine :O (I'm sure this man has arms of steel, heck even Ironman would not be able to do such). Paul as mentioned earlier was Shoaib Akhtar in everything, speedster and very prompt in emails et cetra. He didn't take long and shipped my parcel off to Canada.

Curiosity arose when parcel was crossing Atlantic Ocean but when it was at my doorstep, things were very unpleasant as the custom officials were harsh with the parcel. They did not only gave hefty custom bill but had opened the package in such manner that my brother who was at the door was amused to see parcel in such state and was confident that items were missing. He declined to accept the package as he said he is not sure what is in the parcel and what is missing. It didn't take him long enough to call me in Pakistan and tell me about this, I convinced him to accept the parcel and told him what the parcel should consist. So next day parcel was accepted by my brother and he sent me picture of each and every item. Thankfully everything was there :)

So time finally came when I held the bat, it turned out exactly how I was expecting it to be. Perfect! The only concern I had was handle, I don't know but Julian Millichamp and I would partially blame 100 not out for spoiling me and making me obsessed with thick handles. But that being a minor issue was not a major concern. Whilst the bat doesn't look very pleasing aesthetically but that is inconsequential for me as I'm more fussed about feel of the bat and its ping. It didn't take me long enough to test the rebound, it did exceed my exception and it pinged quite well. I would like to thank Bil for spending time on my Salix and ensuring it was fully knocked, his efforts definitely didn't go in vain as I'm extremely thankful to him for such a brilliant job! I know how long and how hectic it would have been for me to knock a stick, I know how many obstacles I face :)

Last but not least I would like to thank Paul for his brilliant service. He was  very quick in replies, extremely courteous and very helpful. ItsJustCricket is relatively new in the business and I understand how difficult it is to meet customers expectation and more specifically when it comes to me. I'm one of those customer who is pack in backside to deal with due to continuous requests, emails et cetra. So Paul was kind enough to fulfill all of my demands and I appreciate this profusely Paul. From here I see nothing but success for ItsJustCricket, the way Paul has been working is simply remarkable and I'm sure one day ItsJustCricket will be household name in UK. I wish Paul and Bil the best for upcoming years.

Once again thank you very much Paul :).

Feel free to ask anything you wish to guys :)

Cover Drive thank you for an extensive review!
It is people like yourself and reviews like these, that makes us feel happy and proud at IJC.

Lol! Regarding the forearms, there is always room for improvement.
Mind you one thing is for sure, I can always use all my 2.14lb bats with extensive ease.

Lol! Apart from the gift of knocking in, I also have some hidden talents.
Feel free to check it out ppl; and add me off-course on:

Nice review CD. So how does it compare against your other bats such as the Scat, BB, Distinction, etc?

Cheers - BlankBat is still not fully knocked yet while this is close if not better than Distinction, but you have to bear in mind that this is 2.10ish while Distinction is 2.13ish. Screaming Cats are just in different league to be honest.

Once BlankBat is fully knocked it can give this Salix run for its money :)
