Do it, better to be snug than like a welly top. There's a motto for life haha

right people i am home now so here is my 2p....

i got the gloves in the 2010 season .

they where lovely looked good decent fit etc everything i wanted..

now you have to ask your self how much cricket do you play?

i pretty much play every sat and sunday and two t20 games a week

so thats roughly 60 games a season...

The stiching started to split inbetween the fingers near the end of the season.. not sure why really maybe i just have big hands etc

when i drew round the glove i did not have inners on geoff said he would make them a few mm bigger for the inners as well..

in the 2011 season when i looked at the gloves that had been sat in the garage all winter the leather had gone very brital and hard the gloves where not longer soft and lost there flexibility... i am sure with a bit of soap water/leather conditioner they might have softerned up.
but anyway i had helped tom-tek with the design of the ayrtek keeping gloves.. so as a favour he sent me a pair up to use so i never used the wymers again..

its the ayrtek gloves that i had the issue with not enough padding in-between thumb and first finger.. its cos in the gap there is no padding there and i have a bad hand..

this yeah i am using kook silver 1's have used them in indoor nets they are nice but dont feel as nice as the ayrteks i dont think..

i say if ur gonna get a pair of wymers get them! but dont expect them to last forever i had more than my use out of them i think

Yea thanks for all the details Simmy, much appreciated. If next season is as wet as this one reckon a pair could last me about 5 years!

I bought my wymers towards the end of this season and am very impressed with them aesthetically. They are made of good quality leather and need breaking in. Stitching appears sound and first impressions are £67 well spent.

I suppose like most 'seasoned' keepers we like them to be supple and comfortable so I set about mine with saddle soap and leather oil and a few hours punching the palms. They are getting softer and will, if supple enough be my gloves for next year. They will never be as soft as a pair of Alec Stewart Slazengers I picked up but we can't have everything.

Like Simmy I used Kooks Silver Classics for the first part of the season.(Well if you can call it a season with the rain we had).

The Kooks are really soft but I found that the palms were a bit thin, I like to feel the ball, but theres feeling the ball and feeling the ball.

Pictures of my gloves are on the forum in the keeping section under 'Look what arrived in the post today' and 'A lovely pair of Slazengers'

I will put more on about the Wymers next season but at the moment I wear them round the house to soften them up.
