Nothing like joining Notts for ruining a top order player's confidence (Lumb aside).
Still, looking at this, I won't be complaining if he's opening up for Aus at TB come Ashes time.

IIRC Phil Hughes played for Middlesex before the last Ashes here and got found out?  Bit of a double edged sword, Cowan can get a handle on conditions, also gives us more chance to see him and make plans for him.

True.  I don't think we're over whelmed by the Aussie top four to be fair.  Still would rather see Notts playing a straight bat for once....

Wouldn't ever happen in Aus, I think it helps that when the english county games are on no one else is really playing any other international standard cricket bar the IPL.
