It's interesting that NZ have shown the way forward on stadiums. Rather than play to 4k in a 50k stadium, better to play to 4k in a 5k stadium. NZ started moving big games away from big stadiums to traditional cricket venues with smaller capacity. Creates a better atmosphere for players and spectators.

The single most annoying thing about International cricket in England is we could fill a 50k stadium easily for big games but nobody has yet built one.

Agreed. I really do think the IPL has more 'stars' in there (which would go anywhere for the money) but the rest of the more local players are pretty poor. As for crowds, yes BB has smaller crowds etc but Indians have just fallen for the glitz and glamour of T20/ODI's.

As for grounds, I think national teams should rotate around the top level county grounds in England to help all the counties expand and keep growing. Rather than the same few. Although for the big series (so against Aus and SA) they go to the big stadia.

Didn't NZ use rugby stadiums as well to improve the atmosphere? 

This was at the AMI stadium before the earthquake. Great noise!!

they did but for tests and odi's they moved them to smaller venues. I think the t20's were the only ones where more than a handful of people turned up.

prefer the big bash tbh! more about the cricket and less advertising!!
