Quick review of my Fisher Custom, with pics.
« on: December 31, 2012, 06:14:06 AM »

Hi everyone,

I haven’t been on the forum very long, only posted a couple of bat pics, so I guess this is my first posting of any real substance.
That being the case, I thought I would give a quick review of my current bat, a Fisher Custom.

I bought this bat probably about 4-5 years ago during my second senior season and have been using it ever since.
When visiting Lachlan Fisher in his store, in Melbourne, I was like a kid in a candy shop, seeing all those bats and clefts neatly arrayed I was spoilt for choice. However after speaking to Fisher I was quickly able to work out what I was looking for in a bat, mainly one that wasn’t too heavy with a fairly mid positioned middle, which would accommodate the rather random array of shots in my repertoire.

Buying this bat was a great experience, having previously used off the shelf bats in my junior years, and after looking at and testing a few different clefts I found one that both looked and felt great. All that was left was to wait for the day I could collect the bat.

Fair to say I was extremely pleased with the end result, a fairly traditional shaped bat weighing in at a little over 2.7. It has pretty much no concaving and whilst the edges are small, we all know that edge size isn’t everything. This bat isn’t the biggest but it has a great middle, it goes like a cannon.

Here are the pics (not the greatest quality, due to phone camera), enjoy.

the edges actually look very decently sized for the weight and the profile of that bat is lovely, you got yourself a nice peice of willow there

Very similar shape to my Fisher, really like the look of those grains.

English willow or is it from his Australian willow range?

Fattus, this is English willow, grade 1.

^ On that note, I don't think his Australian willow bats are used very much at all, I see quite a few Fisher's around but never one of the Australian willow ones.

Good point tugga, his english willow bats are quite popular but you don't see one of his oz blades that often.
