20/20 TOPIC:

With all the help the batsmen are getting with protection and silly looking bats. The game is slipping away from bowlers. What would encourage little ones to come screaming in to bowl quick and then watch the ball sail back over their heads with a gentle nudge of a scientifically mutant bat?........Quite discouraging. What rules (silly or serious) can be enforced to make the game fair?


For me the main one would be unlimited bouncers.

Stupid ones:

Imagine giving the batsmen a minimum of 4 pieces of protective gear of their choice. No more. That would be good to watch.

Fluorescent coloured ball.

A ball that fluctuates weight after every delivery...one cannon ball.... the next one a feather....try anticipating your shot now Mr.Sehwag

Mate there is no way in hell that it's a batsman's game. Sure pitches are getting harder but its being seen to. Whats wrong with bigger bats, a ball is harder than a bat and the bowlers are firing that down at 150 km/h. Also there is more chance of a kid charging in bowling fast as spin gets absolutely dismantled in every country. Only a good spinner will keep bowling spin. If cricket is a batsman's game then why aren't batsman racking up 400 in a day in tests. Why are bowlers still getting 5fers.

That was the most ridiculous post ever sambo, its not that bowlers cant take any wickets its that its much easier for batsman to score due to flat pitches and massive bats. Look at the average scores and you will understand!

Sambo that is just utter rubbish
In one day cricket there are fielding powerplays
Now there are even batting powerplays, ridiculous really
You can't compare 400's with fivers
Plus tell me which international captain is a bowler except from Vettori
Equipment change as well for batsmen, bigger edges on bats, light bats, new inventions
How has a bowler changed in the past decade? They still run in and bowl as quick as they can or spin the ball as much as they can, the values of the bowlers have not changed
Plus is Twenty20 invented to watch Bowlers take wickets, or to watch Batsmen tonk the ball out of the park? Why is it used as a tool to attract people to a game?

I know i didnt mention it but I meant 20/20 is a batsmen's game. Not test matches. And how many world calss bowlers at anyone time bowl in excess of 150kph consistently? 2 maybe 3? Like I said this is about 20/20 cricket not test. My mistake for not making it clear.

i meant teams scoring 400 in a day. sorry if you misinterpreted.
There are usually batting captains as they are usually better captains, aren't frustrated from bowling a bad spell and think about the game more than bowlers. Thats a generalisation but can you name a great bowling captain who was purely a bowler?

Bigger bats means that the bowler has more edge to aim for. Its not like the bats are becoming wider they are just getting bigger in the middle. They can still hit the splice and the toe.

Batsman haven't changed in the past decade, their equipment has though. Sure there's bigger bats. Bowlers haven't gained to much but there may be a thing called reverse swing that has come into prevalence. You can't fight that. Reverse swing is unpredictable and totally in the bowler's hands. No matter how big a bat is if you can't hit the ball then whats the point of having a bat? Also bowlers are breaking down less due to better equipment too. They can bowl faster for longer with less chance of injury. Bowling equipment has gotten better just it hasn't been noticed as much.

Also i love to see a fast bowler giving a batsman a thorough working over as just as much as a batsman belting a six.
