ASICS Gel-Strike Rate 2 - Feedback Needed

Just doing some research ahead of our ASICS 2013 stock order, and have noticed that the Strike Rate has been updated for 2013.  Check it out here: http://www.asics.co.uk/cricket/products/gel-strike-rate-men/

I think it looks very nice, but it's the same price as the 200 NO, which far more retailers seem to be stocking.  I'm thinking the Strike Rate has been overlooked, as very few shops seem to be stocking it.  I wondered what the reasons might be?

What do people think about this shoe? Has anyone had any experience with the old Strike Rates (we didn't stock them before)? How were they?

I think the 200 not outs offer a better variation for the user as you can have it as half spike and full spike.

The Striker Rates appear to be a nice shoe but the option to swap and select what spike set up I would want would sway me to the 200 Not Outs.

You have this ability with strike rate. They come fitted with spikes and contain a bag of blanks that you can either use fully or partially. I think they are great and own two pairs.

Are they doing any rubber soles this year? I wanted a reasonably costed pair for indoor nets.

Great boots, most in my team have them (good for if you lose one of their odd spikes!) but I will have to fine another shoe if they are gunna be that much.

£100 is the RRP.  Most retailers are selling them around the £80 mark, which actually makes them one of the least expensive ASICS shoes available, hence my interest in stocking them!

Hadn't checked the pictures. The original strike rates were full spike and came with blanks so you had the option. I see these no longer are. That'll be why the 200no are selling better.

Looking at the image in the link Paul gave, I can't see you are able to put spikes on the back of the sole, So they seem to be half spike only. which was what I was referring to.

Would that really make so much of a difference though, given a replacement set of spikes is just a few £ more??

I was just going to say the same thing. I have original strike rates and they're fantastic but the half spike would put me off the newer versions.

Hadn't actually noticed that, but good point.  I guess that's why they're calling them a batsman's shoe...

for £100 you could get some lovely nike trainers from sports direct and have them spiked up and have change. Even at £80 I would struggle to want these.

I think around £60 is more appropriate, personally...

The price boots have gone up year on year is near on extortionate. (certainly not pointing a finger at any retailers!)
