M&H Original
« on: March 12, 2013, 09:42:24 PM »

(Why don't we have an M&H section anywhere  ????)

Hey guys ,

been looking around recently and spotted the M&H original grade 2 on the M&H website for £150. I haven't seen many of these around actually so was wondering if anyone had any opinions on them and what sort of quality M&H grade 2 willow is? Thanks for any info you give :).

I have one I got 2 1/2 years ago, been an absolute gun since I bought it. Got my first 2 hundreds with it and it has lasted me well over 1500 runs + practice and is still going strong. Plus you get a refurb and/or repair free in the first year with M&H under warranty.

This was a G1, however I doubt the G2 is going to be far behind.

I am a huge fan of the original M&H with a high middle . I am yet to see one for real and have no idea how it should look grain wise , However it's best you ring them and buy rather than online so as to get the best grade 2 possible . I also think M&H weigh their bats pre-stickering and gripping.

Not sure what your location is but if you could visit them they have a box full of these for £150, all looked pretty good and on all sorts of different m&h labels.

It's difficult to order direct from m&h these days. They have introduced / are introducing a member scheme where members only will be able to order directly from their website. Everyone else will be referred to their local retailer. I hear you need to be a very long serving customer to be a member, so might be tricky to do this sort of thing from now on...

I assume SCS sell their bats, so not a million miles from where they are now?
GM and GN don't let the public walk in. Maybe M&H have delusions of grandeur?

There are two profiles in the original range. The original, and the original low.

Yes, they will.  This is just for the online side.  We and several other retailers have been twisting their arm about it for some time now and they've finally done the right thing...

I don't think it's a bizarre business choice at all actually.  Very few well known brands sell directly to the end customer online.  Fair enough in their respective shops, like Newbery and Salix do, but the online realm is better for the retailers in my opinion.  M&H are well enough established to not need this route to market, and if the retailers are happier, they'll get more custom through them anyway...

Totally understand that from a retailer perspective but as a consumer their pricing through retail has always been off putting whereas online they have offered some good deals. Perhaps those deals will start filtering through into retail now, will have to wait and see
