A bit of TLC
« on: March 13, 2014, 05:19:08 PM »

I recently picked up a BB LE that needed some work on it. It had a toe crack so I thought I couild DIY it and fix it. I rolled my sleeves up , threw some watered down glue at it and clamped overnight. Went off to net the following day and a few balls in I could tell I hadn't solved the problem. I was lucky enough to bump into Ryan at the Vitas forum event and he said he would do the job. This really ought to be on Ryan's thread as he did a great job of dowelling it, lamitoed and gluing up. Not to mention the refurb. In the meantime I got some stickers off the BB boys and here it is:-

Cheers nick,  nice little bat and a bargain for the total cost. Hopefully it should hold, the only thing I could suggest would be to bind the toe but I don't like doing it unless the lamitoe and pinning doesn't work. Let me know how you get on with it.

Nice bat.

Nice bat.
As well as bats and trousers TK makes hockey sticks too! The man must work 30 hours a day, 9 days a week to churn all those out ;)

Seems to go pretty well, very impressed. Particularly as near the fixed toe it seems to be responding as well. Spec wise it's pretty much 2'10 dead in this 1 grip mode. Didn't look the biggest bat I've had but when I compared it to other bats I was surprised, still 35mm edges and roughly 60mm spine with a small amount of concaving.

I might have to add it up as I am considering putting it up for sale. Too many bats  :o I have tested it in the nets and despite a couple of yorkers it's holding firm with no signs of movement.

Wow, that's a fantastic job. I know who I'll go to if I have any damage like this. :)

Nice job on the Lamitoe and bat looks really slick!
But never seen a dowel put in the back of a bat before. What's that for Ryan?

Nice job on the repair.

Question-
In case the toe broke because of bat not being knocked in properly, would there be a problem knocking in the toe of the bat after such repair?
