RK Custom on the way!
« on: April 05, 2013, 06:33:26 PM »

So I finally ordered my RK Custom recently and here were the specs:

Grade 1
Heartwood on the outside edge (I am a LH batsman)
Hardwood toe insert
Shoe goo on the toe
Minimal concaving
Thruxton profile with mid-low middle (was originally going to be a GN Legend profile but changed my mind)
Handle rounded at the top and oval at the bottom
Weight around 2.8

Have seen the cleft that I am having and cannot wait to get it! Haven't decided what colour stickers to have yet, was tempted by the Blue/White combo but as there are a few of them popping up I might go for something different. Super excited to get it and pictures will follow when it arrives. Just a little teaser!  ;) :D

Ryan is certainly getting through some bats and have liked what I've seen so far! Will be interested to the finished bat, what made you change your mind about the profil out of interest (I have a legend and really like the shape).

I liked the Legend profile and still do, but it is quite a traditional shape and the Thruxton is just a little bit more unusual as it is quite a slim piece of wood but still very effective and they do go like the clappers. I would still like a Legend shaped bat but maybe that will be next time round ;)

Also to get it to the correct weight I thought the Thruxton shape would leave me with a bit more meat behind it.

Also I can get Ryan to make a Thruxton replica for about half the cost of a Grade 1 Newbery...

I've got one on the way soon too!

I went with purple stickers and white grip. Should be pretty boss.

Purple seems to be the 'in fashion' colour at the minute. I'm thinking of going with a white grip and clear/black stickers but not sure yet. Will decide when Ryan tells me it's ready, then I will take a look at all the colours available.

I think black/clear with white would look pretty slick.
