Does spiked shoes interfere with foot movement?
« on: April 17, 2013, 10:57:48 AM »

I haven't had a chance to practice in a actual wicket yet , I always get to practice in nets so I can only wear non-spiked ones when batting . Because I'm used to non-spiked shoes I use them in matches as well ,but I have a hard time trying not to slip when turning back for the second run. I'm worried that spikes will restrict my foot movement?

Any ideas?

No they don't, they give you far more grip than a flat soled shoe. If you play cricket at any level then I highly recommended you wear cricket spikes.

I used to think this many years ago but now I feel really uncomfortable unless I’m wearing at least halfspikes to bat. Far better grip and usually better protection from Yorkers too.

Definitely spikes unless a rock hard/bone dry deck......not many of those around though!!
Won't affect your batting but you will be able to run with more confidence!!

Cheers guys

Should I use separate batting shoes or full spiked bowling/fielding shoes ok?

Well,I am not a bowler so only wear low cut spikes and use same for batting and fielding.
If you bowl, you might want more support in bowling ones, but then might well be coming in further down the order??!!
Hope this helps...
