I've acquired myself another hattori. Problem being it's got a wee troublesome crack in the toe.
It's not one that will open, so I'm not going to be able to fill it with glue. I'm guessing a lamitoe is an option, but I'm not looking for something I can do it home ideally.

Give the toe a sand to clean it up a bit first.  Maybe water down some pva to get it in the crack and try calmping?  Other that that, scuff sheet and wrap in fibre tape

Can't see as watering down the PVA will get it in there mate it won't open up, there's no budging it.

Then just wrap in fibre tape and put some shoe goo on.  I repaired something similar to that a couple of weeks ago, the crack wouldn't open. I watered down some PVA and just bunged as much in and around the crack as possible.  Clamped it overnight then sanded away the residue, wrapped in edge tape and shoe gooed it.

Whether any glue got in or not, I don't know.  But if any did, it should help

i was asked to repair something similar recently. a small part had splintered out but other than that it was pretty much a hairline crack. no chance of getting anything in it, even watered down. i just sanded it flush and taped/ antiscuffed it. not much you can do on those kind of things.

cheers boys! Was thinking about clamping it in place, and then doweling it. I may just be worrying a bit over it, just concerned in case I get one of the inside edge and it splits even more

Let gravity do it's work. No matter how small the crack you can normally get something in there, even if it's on the top of the crack. Stand it on it's handle (with support) and put some glue over the toe area and let it soak in a little before clamping. Once clamped add some glue on top until the area is smooth and the crack hidden by the glue.Worth doing the front/back face afterwards ie. let some glue rest on the top for a while. Sometimes a toothbrush helps to get it in as well. Sand down and wrap in tape.

Use PVA glue and try blowing it in with a drinking straw (put it on the crack, not in the straw!), you can usually persuade some to go in that way.

Wilkie PVA glue watered down in a syringe with a thin needle can get in and then just empty the syringe till the glue starts coming out all sides...then clamp it....i would try to insert the needle down/in from the toe so make sure you have cleaned up the toe enough that you can see where the biggest gap is...

or just do what uknsaunders suggested but i would use slow setting super glue (its thin so would seep in)
