Do any bowlers use the ASICS Speed Menace boots for batting?
« on: April 22, 2013, 03:21:02 PM »

As the title says, does anyone have any experience of this? I have never worn bowling boots, but have wondered how effective the Speed Menaces would be for batting? They are lower cut than many other bowling boots, so I thought they might be OK.  Would be interesting to hear feedback from the forum though...

Thanks!

Yeah no problems, but I don't profess to being the worlds best batsmen (or bowler). I have always used sturdy boots rather than spiked trainers.

Forget batting in them.

If you ever see an umpire wearing them, make sure you have no close shouts on the LBW or play and misses where you hit your front (or back) pad.

not that I am still smarting or anything (Cough)

I use them for batting as I need the exra support.  No problems for me.

Why wouldn't you? Most bowlers at club level wear the same boots for bowling as for batting.

Yeah, but you know what we are like on here for buying gear that we might not need... :D

I've just been asked about this on YouTube.  I wouldn't have necessarily recommended that someone use these boots for batting, but clearly, they seem to do the job fine, so thanks, everyone, for confirming that!

Paul, hi-top cricket boots are no worse for batting in than low tops. The reality is that nearly all club cricketers can bat and bowl in the same boots with no detriment to how they get on.
