The heaviest bat seen/used
« on: May 12, 2013, 09:41:26 PM »

Hi guys was just interested to hear people's experience of this. Played against a guy today who had a 4lb Warsop, the thing was massive, had 2 grips and although was very heavy to hold with arms out when picking up was not as bad as I imagined. The guy played some very nice shots and was not just a big guy swinging a tree trunk.

I have only used a bat up to maximum 2.10 and I am possibly thinking of trying something much heavier( not 4lb I will add) as I have been told that netting with a bat much heavier then you match bat can aid timing?? True or just crap?

I'm not sure if it can aid timing... If anything, it would throw off your timing with a lighter bat. It does improve batspeed though, and I guess if you use a heavier bat in the nets for a while, then revert back to a lighter bat, you will find your batspeed can indeed help your timing, but not immediately. It just means you can play the ball a little later I reckon!

Check out 'josh40822' on youtube he sells tyrants that weigh 5lbs and have 70mm edges watch the videos and we will explain how using them is like targeted weight training which helps with bat speed and means you can use heavier bats these sell for 100 australian dollars (about 65 pounds)

He also sells the LE tyrants that weigh almost 8lbs and has 115mm edges

What he fails to tell you is that you are risking injuries by using bats that heavy.

Frankly, using a heavy bat in the nets, then a pound lighter in the middle makers you a walking wicket. You lose control of the lighter bat. Don't believe me? Go user a 2 11 in the nets,, them try and use a 2 6 in the middle. Your timing will be shot...
