Its my first time starting a topic so hopefully it all goes smoothly.

Recently ive been toying with the idea of getting a significantly lighter bat, around the 2,7 mark, compared to my current 2,10 and 2,12 bats. Coinsidently i found an old bat from a few years ago today which had been that weight but is pretty broken near the handle and splice.

So i was wondering if you guys reckon its beyond repair or not, as it would be a much cheaper option than getting a new bat with the risk of not liking the weight. Or if not any suggestions of which brand to get a cheap, light bat from.

Pretty much anything can be repaired, the playability afterwards is the key factor on whether it is worth it or not. Without seeing the bat in the flesh I can't give a definitive answer, but I would say that bat is ready for the fire.

I've got a lovely kahuna 600 at 2'7 that could be up your alley, can be found in this topic:

Failing that, MSR seem to have a huge choice on weight and price for you.

it depends on your budget, that bat looks as if it needs a new handle and some glueing - so likely to be about �30-40 after postage.

Personally I don't think you will get value from that repair in this case. I think a new bat would provide you with better value.

Moving from 2lbs10-12 to 2lbs 7 is a big shift - i think you may be better off going for a 2lbs 9 bat - but just my thoughts, the change in weight and timing will take a period, but hopefully not too long, get in the nets.

Looks like there no point getting it dixed then, shame it was quite a nice bat.
Vittas, that kahuna looks seriously nice for a 600!

Buzz a guy at the club also said that it could be too much of a jump, is the main difference the change in power? I want to go lighter as this year im finding i cant play my backfoot shots with my current bats

the change will be in your timing, you may loose some power, depending on how good the bat is you get, but you should make up for that with improved touch and bat speed

I don't think it will take long just a few nets to get used to it.

Is that a Hunts County?

Can be easily repaired, how long it lasts is another matter. Seen similar re-handle/glue jobs in the past and the bats are still going strong.

i taped it up and used it this evening, bit of a risk - thought it was just gonna snap in two, but i didn't get on too badly with it.

it's a Roman Jacques. How much would a repair/ rehandle usually cost?

Rehandle and glue plus dowel to strengthen it should sort it, which normally cost around �35 (give or take a fiver!)
