Hi.
I was at H4L last week having Matt give my Tempo a trim.
Now, I'm not shy with the oil and have given that bat a few generous coats of Salix bat wax. I has taken a gentle golden hue. Looks lovely.
I've heard much about killing a bat by over oiling.
When Matt made his first incision with the draw knife I was keen to see how far the oil had penetrated. Well, I can say that it was virtually zero. I didn't have my micrometer (sorry chaps, poor kit packing there) to get an accurate measure, but a hair's width would be accurate.
If oil doesn't penetrate deeply, please can someone educate me into how over oiling can deaden a bat.
Oh, I'm not being sarcastic, I'm intrigued.
@uksaunders; This isn't research into a launch into the cricket bat market
