Old Stock?
« on: July 10, 2013, 08:20:16 AM »

Guys, too much spare time on my hands yet again and so my mind wanders.....

When new brands bring out their new seasons kit in sept what happens to all of their dated stock?

Sales???????!!?!?!?!?!?! Hopefully.

More seriously as you may have seen with the lords clearance sale the other week, some stock can stay with companies for years. As people what the latest trends........

Hopefully it means a decent sale discount on the bats. In the past two years I've picked up 2 Salix bats, a Falx and a Praestantia for less than half price because they had out of date stickers. Bargain!

Resticker old stock with new decals.
Wouldn't imagine too many of the bigger companies would be doing that sort of thing.

Too much work as well I would imagine.

Resticker old stock with new decals. stickers

Clue is in the verb "resticker" which means "to put on new stickers".
Had you said "redecal" there'd be two words crossed out and changed, it's stickers not decals haha ;)

Noted that myself, what is with these decals. I'll take good old  stickers any day (old before my time)

How common is this restickering of bats?

Do any of the big brands do it?

On the cheaper selection of bats I don't think re stickering is viable.

Most stickers leave marks, and the shop itself isn't gonna wanna be there with a heat gun, and glue remover going through a few bats.

The manufacturers won't want them back, mainly cos they've been paid for. But if they hadn't, delivery back to factory, the hours of sticker changing, and removing proof of old stickers.
Far too much hassle and cost than its worth.

As for the higher end bats, well the shops aren't gonna buy a huge amount to start with, so there probably isn't many that need restickering and they'd sell quickly anyway with an Ensor season discount.

If the bat shape hasn't changed, it's common.
