Moving feet.
« on: June 30, 2013, 08:33:06 PM »

Any suggestions on moving feet early in the innings. Seems that I end up playing around my front pad or not getting my foot out to off stump. When I do get there I think my foot goes to the ball rather to the left out of it. Almost yorking myself in the process.

Going to do a fair bit of working on batting tees to try and get rid of this but any other ideas gratefully received.

Maybe opening up your stance or taking guard more towards leg stump?

Sounds like he's planting the front foot way too early before the ball has been delivered and then also struggling to get a second movement going towards the line of the ball. ( if pitched wide outside off ). Sometimes he overcompensated and goes too far across as well.
Opening up the stance might help a bit, but in this case it sounds more like he needs to wait a lot longer before moving his front foot. This could be because he is falling over with his head in his stance.
Try standing still for as long as possible before the ball is delivered and also try and keep your head as close to your left shoulder as possible( presuming you are Right handed ). This should keep the head upright and prevent it from falling over and dragging the front foot across the stumps.

I think I am probably trying to premeditate my drive and that isn't helping. I try to stay as still as possible and keep my head still but often feel that that makes my feet feel stuck.
