Had a net earlier in the week in which I thought I'd use my Dom weight reduced MIDS bat. Towards the end of the session I thought it sounded slightly odd and I noticed the toe was dead. On inspection, I discovered a somewhat large crack that, while not affecting the middle, I think has resulted in the bat being put out to pasture. I think trying to fix it is likely to affect the bit that currently works, so sadly it has to go. It's done alright this season, scoring a few hundred runs. Any way, here are the pictures. I'd you think it is fixable, post in here as to how.

So it's through the back, toe and front?

Think that means you can hunt through the end of season sales.

Took the scuff sheet off to get a better look, and it's properly shagged. I've salvaged the grips and the bat has been binned. The scuff was holding it together. Lovely vibration noise even when hitting the middle, without it. What's interesting is that it's split along two different grains on the front and back. Whilst I guess these are ultimately the weak points in the wood, I wonder why the split isn't through a single grain? More pics below...

You shoul of kept it, I've fixed much worst than than.

The real issue is how long they last after.

Some go great, some go again, some of in a new spot. Always worth a go if you can I'd them you self or know someone local who can

I've fixed worse than that. As said above, it can be pot luck as to how well it performs afterwards. I salvaged a Bradbury that was almost in two pieces, a split like yours running almost the full length of the bat.

It's about a season since the repair and the guy is still using it. Its obviously not the bat it once was, but it still Races out the middle.

My mates xiphos split like that. I glued it, 2dowels and tape,


3years later it's till smashing sixes for fun.

I took the scuff sheet off and the split runs right up the middle of the blade, to the middle of the bat. It's bigger than I thought.

With the scuff sheet off, the middle has disappeared. With it on, it felt usable, with it off, it feels dead. Whilst it can be dowelled, I'm not going to waste the time and money as it will never be the bat it was.
