Sorry mate forgot to add a bit to the post.
Once the bat has been clamped overnight, the clamp can be released and you can make the area where the handle meet's the blade flush with the use of a spokeshave, it is basically like a shaving razor, but for cricket bats.
The handle should then be shaped using a wood rasp to the specification's needed such as oval or round, and splinters should be removed.
PVA glue should then be applied from the top nobby bit of the handle, to where the handle meets the blade.
Twine should then be wrapped around the handle, it is very quick if you own a Lathe, but can be done by hand, but will take 20-30 minutes.
Leave that overnight or a few hours and then a grip can be applied.
