Broken RedBack :.( What to do?
« on: August 27, 2013, 12:58:52 PM »

Hi Guys,
Looking for some advice here. I spent some hard earned on a redback allegiance a year and a half ago. I was loving my new bat until the unbelievable happened. It cracked. :(

I'm not a great batsmen, my high score for the time i've had the bat has been 8, so very lower order, but could not believe my bat cracked! I spent the dollars thinking it would last me a good amount of years.

any advice from the redbackers out there?

Looking at the pics I believe you don't have much option other than to buy a new bat  :( . It broke right in the playing area.

I contacted RedBack. Spoke to someone (email) called Kiri.

They said it was out of warranty, so there's nothing they can do.

It being out of warranty only means you would have to pay for the repair, if it can be repaired.

I'm sure someone on the forum would give the repair a go, or you could use it as an excuse to buy a new bat. 18 months is a good run for a bat! Mine are lucky if they last 6!

Bats are usually repaired or exchanged for 12 months these days.
This is totally normal. To really get a bat to last a long time these days, it needs to be hard pressed but don't expect the best performance.
These days most bats are pressed a little softer for performance but they are more prone to breaking.

Liam - didn't know that. Thanks! I'm a noob, just started playing cricket a year and a half ago.

Pete - I didn't know they had such short lifespans! Guys on my team have had bats for 5-10 years. Maybe they are hard pressed like you said.

So, from the replies on the forum i'm guessing i'm in the market for a new bat. Bitter Sweet.

Some of our forum sponsors may help you repair it to an extent. You may use it as your net bat if it can be repaired a bit.
