Lukeys Sports - Preston
« on: February 02, 2011, 11:12:02 AM »

I have been bashing on about this place for quite a bit but thought I would put something down for people to see.

Basically it is based in Preston and run by a gentleman who plays in our league. It is fairly new but his prices are very competitive. I went down last Saturday to have a look around and purchase some P1's.

What I found was a small-ish shop crammed full with top rate gear. If you are a fan of Asian bats then this is a heaven. He regularly goes to the factories in India and Pakistan to hand pick bats for his own brand but also for his shop.

He has his own brand of cricket equipment which is reasonably priced and is very well styled. His 2010 gear is modern yet traditional with no silly colourings, and look fairly similar to some of the Newbery equipment. His bats are made by SS and they are fantastic for little over £100.

He also stocked the following:

SS
BAS
Newbery
Vantage
M&H
MB Malik
Mongoose
Gunn & Moore
Aero
Asic
Nike

To name but a few!

He also produces Team Clothing, with various samples of local clubs within the shop.

His website isn't the best, but can be found here: http://www.lukeyssports.co.uk/

I urge anyone based around Lancashire to go and have a look. I will be popping round this Saturday morning coming, as he is expecting 50 new bats from SS for his own range, alongside his new softs.

Hope you found this helpful and if you have any questions then fire ahead!

Can I just say what a great bloke the fella is at Lukeys Sports, very friendly, very helpful. There are quite a few of his own sticks in our league - the Moore & Smalley Palace Shield. I picked up some Newbery Hammer Edge scuffs at £5 a go for some refurbs and a couple of new bats I'm knocking in. Had some very decent bats of his own on show at good prices. Decent range and as tbarnfield99 says - possibly the best cricket shop in the Preston area.

Credit where it is due. Lukey is a great bloke. Not only does he have quality stuff but he will go out of his way to help in every matter cricket related. I am sure he still plays at St. Annes and is highly regarded as a coach.

Although it is a small shop he carries a lot of stock in the back.

I will be there looking for a new bag and shoes for my lad within the next 7 days :)

I bought a masuri helmet from Lukeys midway through last season,  I found the service in the shop as nothing short of excellent.  He's friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Didn't get a bat as I wasn't in the market at the time, but he's certainly got a great range.

For anyone around the Preston area it is certainly an excellent place to go.
