New Bat advice
« on: November 28, 2013, 05:35:56 PM »

I am currently looking to choose between two bats.

1. Gunn and moore flare gm+ 707 - pro direct £79.99

2. Gunn and moore icon 2014 f2606 all rounder cricket £99

Which bat would you recommend and also do I need to have the bats knocked in as they have the gm now!

Cheers

Personally a flare as it's likely to be lighter lighter (the fact it's a higher grade and cheaper is just an added bonus!)

Ideally I'd want to pick both up but that's not a realistic option buying online haha

I recommend giving any GM bat further knocking in and some time on a bowling machine if available. I have a couple of GM's and both were not the most responsive bats to begin with, but get better the more you use them.

Is it possible for you to buy both and return the one you don't want, most companies will accept returned goods - just a thought

Hi, I would recommend you purchase an icon f4.5 606 as I have seen my friends it has a surprisingly light pick up and perfect edges 30mm ( edges aren't everything) and the middle would suit any batsman batting at any number. I would just knock it in at home with a mallet as there is no point wasting another £20 unless you can get it for free.  :)

normally I'd say pick up both but as said before as you're buying online this isn't an option so I'd go for the higher grade bat, and it will still need plenty of knocking and playing in before match use

I'd go for the Flare every time. Not a great fan of the Icon.
