aero stand up tour bag
« on: November 13, 2013, 08:26:55 AM »

Hey guys
I am considering buying an aero stand up tour bag and I just want to know whether or not it is worth the money.
Does anybody have one and can show me photos on the progress? And can they tell me everything?

Buy one.

Seriously, they're the best bags on the market and even at approaching a ton, worth every penny.  There is a load of space - and well designed space at that - and plenty of pockets to store stuff independantly.  Build quality is very good to excellent and the trolly mechanism is superb.

Ill counter argue that - dont buy one.

The space is there but they are a pain in the (No Swearing Please) to get anything in and out of. Stand it up and you cant reach the bottom. Theres the side pocket which gets to the bottom but it means you cant use the pocket "in front". If you lay it on its side then that pocket isnt big enough to get anything in and out of properly. I find because of the design it doenst utilise the space as well as it probably should. I regulay had to carry the small holdall it comes with seperatly for all my clothes. I could just about get batting pads and keepers pads in and the flap 3/4 of the way up just about closed in order to get the lid in on top. Also the handle is rubbish and isnt long enough to pull it along without smashing the back of you legs/heels.
The side pockets are very good though, very durable and spacious, i used to keep my keeping gloves in them without fear of getting damaged.

I got rid of mine after a year and replaced it with the Newberry tour - which is a lot better and more practicle althougth i hear the salix pod is even better. Might be worth at least looking at one of those.

I had one.

The bag is very good. I got rid of it as it was too big for the changing room and I felt that the fact I had to empty the top pocket to get the the main compartment to be an issue that I would rather do without.

Don't recognise that at all - I can reach stuff from the bottom of mine and, lets face it, you wouldn't want anything too fiddly in the biggest compartment when there are so many pockets.

I carry the following in mine:

3 x bats in individual pouches.
Pads, AERO Strippers, Helmet, Gloves, Skyer, Return Stump, Fielding mit in main area (with scorebooks and replacement shirt on top) clothes in one pocket, selection of match balls in another, then towel in the wet pouch and assorted bits in the final one...

Its an excellent bag with lots of compartments, but both the members above also make some very valid points. Perhaps you should also consider the offerings from GM and Gray-Nicolls. Both make large bags, with lots of compartments that are well sized.
