Sadly I think with the advent of the Kudos, the TT will disappear. I shall, I think begin a search for a decent second hand one, as I think a used, knocked in one will become a rarity.

I'll take on board the comments on SPS grade, and I'll see what's out there.

I'm afraid I too, am one of those guys who thinks Tim K and Andrew K press the best bats out there.

It's all personal preference.

From all of the TTs that I have seen, they have hugely underwhelmed me.

As you have said, you're basing the performance to a Joker - which is £80 cheaper. I know which I would prefer.

There is nothing about a Newbery bat that makes me want to buy it. I don't think the stickers look great. The grains seldom look good. And the designs are not attention grabbing.
I paid ?225 for my Joker and it was worth every cent. Landed in Australia for around $400AU
My Thruxton SPS was ?142 from Lorimers. Landed in Aus for $290AU.
The TT SPS cost me $270AU incl postage. It came from IJC. I bought it from the same guy who sold me a Salix Pod Players a while ago for $300AU.
I used to think ?300 odd was far too much to pay for a bat. And I would never have bought a Newbery if I hadn't gotten carried away with that first ebay auction. But having now used them I can tell you that when it is time to replace my Thruxton SPS with another I will happily pay RRP if necessary.

you will not only pay RRP but pay it happily!!?? Wow!  :D
The Screaming Cat, the Amplus and the Kudos are mine and all three are brilliant! The Kudos is the first Newbery I have owned and I must say, the pick up is fantastic! I had the TAS inserts fitted as I use a bat at 2.10 and it came in too light at 2.8 and the inserts add a couple of ounces, it worked out perfect. I feel the TAS inserts do add to the ping of the bat, especially off-centre hits. The Scat is my favorite and was made a couple of weeks ago when Julian gave me first pick of his new batch of clefts. He made it to my specs by taking more out near the handle (similar to my Amplus) which although makes it pick up not quite as well, adds punch to my shots as it seems a bit more of a pendulum if that makes sense?

Both the TT and the GM, despite not winning any beauty contests, absolutely fly! I'm with Shane on this when he says that he would have something that performs rather than a sexy plank. My Scat has blemishes all over it but launches rockets.

Having used a few Newbery bats one thing I would say is they are never really "big" bats but they do seems to all play well, Only one that I seem to recall as being a decent size was my B52 bomber but it was also fairly heavy and my last Newbery. Highly unlikely that you will find a SPS that does not play well, I did end up getting a TT short while back that is a 5 star, looks okish but responds extremely well off the mallet.

Ha. But we both know it will never come to that. Im thinking i really liked the feel of that Screaming Cat. Isn't it 2 weeks old now? Time to move it on me thinks.

My CK22 arrived this morning and I must say this is better than any of my expectations! "Pings like a pingy thing from pingsville", I believe is the appropriate phrase used...  :D

I got a net booked from 6.30 this Thurs if you are keen for a hit? I'm gonna give the Kudos a good run.
