Question about oiling
« on: December 21, 2013, 04:53:24 AM »

I am a strong believer in oiling a bat to keep it at the right moisture level to help it last longer and prevent it from cracking. I have also read countless times to not get any oil near the splice area as it may loosen the handle. So is it ok to oil the shoulders? I understand that this area is prone to cracking but I don't want to oil it then find my bat with a loose handle.😐
Thanks in advance

I believe it's only an issue on fairly old bats, as bat makers these days tend to use PVA glue instead of animal hide glue.
