Gray Nicolls 1000 Duffle Review
« on: January 06, 2014, 04:47:20 PM »

Here is my quick review of my new bag. Apologies for the dull monotone voice and the cold I can't get rid of! Enjoy.

Agree on the size mate, they are a little smaller than the samples i saw, and the design has changed somewhat compared to samples and catalogue photos.

Still easily fits bats, pads, gloves, whites, shoes, thigh pads, helmet and i have managed my keeping gear too. As well as a few pockets for accessories as you have found. I put my helmet in the top pocket by the way. Ti Grille isn't too heavy, might be different if you have a steel.

Surprising how small it looks compared to the space available.

Been really impressed so far. It's impressively sturdy and holds all the kit I need (two of the big problems I had with my old GM duffle) while being compact and good looking.

I will try the helmet in the top part, I remember Robin had his keeping gloves stashed in there. Will have another play around later.

Looks very good, I've got the slaz v360 which is a similar kind of bag and I prefer it to a large wheelie bag - it could do with being just a little bigger. This one looks ideal and a tad bigger than the v360 so when its time to upgrade I may well go for this, padding on the straps and back are a good idea.

Ordered one of these at the weekend. Good to see I shouldn't be disappointed!

If you have stuff in the top compartment, how well do the bats fit?

The bat handles fit snugly to the top compartment. The top compartment is on a slope with the bat handles pressing up from underneath the 'top' of this slope, so there isn't much of an impact to be honest.

Okay, thanks. Suggests that I'm likely to have the usual issue with using longer than average bats then!

I can bang a load of gear into mine (if you tell me what you carry i'll put the same in) then i'll use your bat and another long blade to see what difference it makes.

There is probably a bit of leeway but it may well be tight.

Pair of Puma Stormtrooper pads, Ayrtek helmet, 2 pairs of gloves, box, aero P2 strippers, two pairs of boots (spiked and rubber), whites/pyjamas, mac, towel, wash kit, bag of sweets, packed lunch, 500ml bottle of drink, cap, sunnies. Think that's the lot.

Think it could be touch and go Tim. I have the same amount of cricket equipment as you and that fits. The top pocket could sweeze all your whites and clothing in, but doubt you would have much room for a towel as well.

When I have some free time tomorrow, I will see how much stuff I can cram in to it.
