Hello chaps, i've had 3 good sessions with this bat now.

My initial impression on the bat was: nice shape, very similar to my Laver Reserve, grains i thought were very attractive but i was a little underwhelmed because as Dave eludes to, the size of the bat is quite unimpressive, especially compared to my Laver (left of picture) which is less than 1 ounce heavier.

That being said, the pickup is very nice, and size isn't everything ;)

Initial thoughts when tapping up with a ball were that this bat made a very rich sound, the middle felt forgiving but of course the proof would be actually using it.

I think Dave had maybe got through the hard period and softened this up for me, as i don't think this felt hard during use, i was able to lean on shots nicely and felt comfortable with this bat immediately. There was a satisfying solidity to timing a shot, and whilst i agree with Dave there isn't that wow factor in terms of punch/ping, it is by no means a dead bat. The slightly higher middle and light weight made back foot shots a dream to execute. I would happily use this bat now i have moved club and no longer play on a low bouncing pudding.

This bat is good evidence to show that the size of a bat isn't everything, the performance was very nice indeed, i still think i would feel more comfortable with something a little bit more imposing when i am at the crease, but i can't knock this little belter. :)

I like the graphics, and although used, i could tell this bat was finished nicely. Classy, understated stickers, following similar templates to my Laver (shield on the front, with a basic splice cover on the back enhanced by a bit of flair from the tree) which get a thumbs up.

Who will be next to wield this?

many thanks for your thoughts on this lovely bat, really glad you liked it.

it may soon be ready for me to use!!

if there is anyone who would like a go of this fine bit of Dom's craftsmanship, please drop me a line, you will need to pay postage and I need to believe that I will get it back off you!

No problem mate, it's a nice bat and was fun to use.

I would use it now if I were you, pre-season is underway for many :)

Nice review Jake. It's probably not actually that small - more so that Reserve is massive!

True, it did instantly strike me as quite reserved. Quite similar to many traditional bats that have failed in recent years, Halo, 1885 etc, showing me that a customers initial thoughts when picking up a bat are very influential.

It just doesn't give that confidence boost when you pick it up that says 'yeah this is a big weapon'

But like i said, size isn't everything, my favourite bat ever was by no means a railway sleeper.

My turn for a bash :) should get 400/500 balls on it in the next week. Be interesting to see/feel it compared to the RPC, kooks and bluerooms
