GM Pros supplied with "PRO" stickered bats?!
« on: January 16, 2014, 03:59:34 PM »

A mate of mine called Jack Burnham is in the Academy at Durham and has posted a picture of his new Six6 GM's on Facebook. Obviously, being a kit "geek" I noticed the PRO sticker above the limited edition. Is this now the norm for GM and their sponsored players?
Cheers

It seems pro has replaced the "original" sticker

Probably be easier to spot a pro bat on eBay now.

But shock horror at all that heartwood! How can that be classed as pro..........

Because the Pro's get paid to score runs, not look good in the bar.
It proves that so much of what is said about grains, heartwood, clean, and all that is a case of 'Emporer's new clothes'.

Luckily Mr Aldred is carefully lifting the veil and I was talking to a bat maker this afternoon who agrees.

Long live performance bats. Don't forget, more often than not the minger go's better than the super model  ;)

Not at all. I just added to it with some of my own (although I was making a point about nudity)

I am very light hearted you know and have a wicked sense of humor.

These stickers are new for 2014 and are for the sponsored players to help identify them easier but the main county and international players will have the normal LE sticker.
And of course these are not for sale to the public.

You mean when the sponsored players are in the factory identifying them at source?

Are you saying pro level bats aren't available for consumers to buy? And other gm ranges are inferior?

Sorry I quickly wrote that while using my phone. I meant say that the bats with a Pro sticker are not available to the general public, they are the exact same high quality bats that are produced everyday in our factory in Nottingham that is available on the shelf's of the retailers.

So why bother to differentiate from the off the shelf bats??
Makes no sense to me  ???

Just a quick question Perkins, you say the sponsored players get the same bats as what's on the shelf. Is this the same with a lot of the county and international players? Obviously apart from the likes of root that have their own shape, do a lot of them just use of the shelf willow in off the shelf shapes? Also if you don't mind me asking, do any of them ever comment on the pressing of the bats like many people on here do by saying they're rock hard?
Cheers

Well its really a mix a some pick up a stock bat and love them but like you said their are pros who like their own specifics.
In the 2 years I have been at GM I have not heard of a pro saying a bat is hard, I know this may be hard to believe but I have only heard how much the pros love their bats and praise the performance.
