Brand Representation
« on: March 03, 2014, 01:39:40 PM »

B&S are new on the Forum and to date it has been enjoyable BUT! there are a lot of brands on here that are discussed at length  by a fair few forum members making certain  assumptions and aqusations about there product in one way or another Please they are not on here to defend themselves and unless you have there FULL authority to be able to confirm what they  do or don't do keep your thoughts to YOURSELF it takes such a long time to build a BRAND and such a short time through a mis guided  comment to destroy it
THANK YOU

Purely playing devil's advocate here (so don't shoot me!)

Where do you both stand on a brand (in your case Gary maybe a competitor) stating they make their own bats on websites and literature when someone knows they don't. I think we're all aware that it may have happened in the past - lots of re-stickering of blanks does go on?

I guess it's difficult to come out and categorically prove it - which is where the problem lies with some peoples 'knowledge'.

Problem is in the past on here, that people with insider knowledge of the industry have told these things to people that they shouldn't have, who don't have a filter switch, and can't wait to blurt it all over here.

Who's right, the false claims of the brand or the whistle-blower who doesn't know all of the facts!!

How many of those BRANDS that state one thing and do another are still prominent on here or are even still operating you will be caught out very quickly in this industry if you are prepared to state certain things about certain brands make sure you have there full authority if not ZIP it or suffer the consequences .I am not sure who is too blame but I do know the POOR BRAND being slated with out positive proof  is the LOOSER

if someone has a problem they should sue them for libel.

Unless they are 100% sure people shouldnt write something on the internet. Its like all the nutters on twitter calling people this and that and threatening to kill people. It seems people think they can do what they like on the internet and there be no consequences ......... oh and one other thing they think ... everything that is on the internet should be free, especially cricket gear!!

Most of the time members will discuss their personal opinions or experiences and as long as they don’t make any direct accusations and are not being  biased, I don’t think they need to keep it to themselves. While you may find some comments unfair, you have to realise that it is almost impossible to control social media. For example, you cannot stop someone from discussing things in public or open forums so why ask the same here? Any misguided comments are likely to removed or warned and sometimes resulting in total ban by the moderators.

You will also find that an established Brand Name often won’t need to defend itself, they will have their consumers [other forum members] doing it for them. I disagree with one mis-guided comment destroying a brand.

I appreciate your sentiments and I can totally see where you are coming from but you have to realise Free Speech can go either way.

I'm going to make a very brief statement here.

There is no reason why a question cannot be asked of a brand, especially if they are represented on here, however, any contentious statements need to have evidence associated with them. We have removed posts that are clearly treading a fine line, and I would warn any forum participant that should any legal action take place against the forum as the host of such a comment, we would also have to hand over details about the poster. This includes a great deal of detail about that person that the ISP logs.

Hiding behind a username on a forum does not exonerate you from real world responsibilities and while the admin team tries to ensure an orderly environment, you are responsible for what you post and should it be considered libellous, brands can and will seek redress.

Time to move operations to Cayman Islands then.

I will refrain from saying anything about GN bats from now on :-)

I'd prefer Bermuda. I like it there.

What has been said and where ???

It intresting that most leaks come from brands themself.

Is this thread refering to the Alamo and the Buying bats thread??

Tell you somebody told me the industry was like a tight ship I have seen and heard so much back biteing from some it has nearly knocked my enthusiasm.

There a big pie out there enough for all brands and shops

Ps as it your thread may I say love the look of your bats MR Bellingham and Smith only brand I really want to try one of left.
