Need help finding bat: kookaburra Kahuna
« on: March 10, 2014, 12:53:10 PM »

Hello guys. I was after a new cricket bat. Was looking for a top range kookaburra kahuna or something similar. Has anyone had any experience of kookaburra kahuna bats how are they like and how big are the edges also how is the profile and sweets pot and also I been told by few people to not get one as they crack quickly. Would you guys recommend it or shall I go for some other top of the range such as a Gm or Gray Nicolls.
I have seen a kookaburra Kahuna on online stock list going for £199. What do you guys think of it.

Get a kookaburra kahuna players model off one of the sponsors on here if you really want a top of the range bat, I had a kahuna players and it was the best bat I ever had! But I suggest with any top of the range bat you go into the store and make sure it's what you really want as it's a lot of money spend

Those look like 2011 edition bats, maybe you might want something a bit more current?

I have a couple of Kahunas.  They are good bats, have a middle sweet spot for "both front and back foot play".  Depending on the actual bat you get, they can be pressed a bit hard and take a serious amount of time to open up.  Due to the large amount of concaving the sweet spot can be a bit narrower than a fuller profile bat.

Do a quick search on Online Stockists and you will see they have mixed reviews (I have never used them personally but a few of the lads on here have).  You might want to consider sourcing a bat from a more reputable establishment.

Note that Kookaburras grading can be a bit all over the shop, therefore, a hand picked Kahuna 400 can be a much better bat than an unseen Kahuna Players.

I too heard the same that Kookaburra bats have a short life. Although I have spent only a short time on this forum I recommed you to look at some of the manufacturers on this forum.

2022 kook kahuna 1000 I had as my match bat. It was a cracker ! A mate has it now and it's still going strong (I scored about 1300 runs with it so it's been around the block). Can't really fault it at all..
