Spartan MSD 2.10 warrior
« on: April 25, 2014, 10:37:36 PM »

Been a while since I bought a new bat, well 3 months and wasn't sure what I fancied and then I heard about the new Spartan MSD. This tempted me as it was a minimal concaved option from Spartan. The MC and MP bats I've seen have been massively concaved and I'm not a huge fan of concaving.

I have bought from Vinnay before and found the service from him to be first class, like many of the forum sponsors and saw that he was visiting Spartan so asked him to keep an eye out for anything with tight grain and a nice weight and more importantly good pick up. Vinnay said he would see what he could do and in my view came up trumps with this beauty.

First thing to comment on was the bat just looks quality. The embossed stickers and colours used are excellent and look really good inthe flesh. The bat its self is 2.10 and hit the magical 40mm edge. It's a big bat for the weight. Grains are nice and even with 12 in total and a nice even strip go heartwood on RH outside edge. Now I personally quite like heartwood on my bats. I dd t ask Vinnay for this but was a nice touch. Also has a flat face and square toe which is a bit different.

I recieved the bat this morning delivered to work by 10am after paying mid afternoon on Thursday so top service. The bat taps up very well with an old ball and makes a lovely sound off the mallet. Looking foward to getting around to using this at some point. Here are a few pics.

Looks a nice stick that, not sure about the square toe (would that be weaker than a rounded one?)

Still undecided if I like the spartan stickers or not (but they do change every 6 weeks or so)

The MSD Warrior has the advantage of being over £200 cheaper than an MC LE though :)

Very true that mate :D

Unless its just me that MC LE looks more concaved and maybe its the pic but the spine looks very much like it doesn't run down the middle of the bat.

Good point. When I got mine the lower end models were hugely concaved compared to the top bats. Tapped up well but I preferred the full profile, since my kook ricochet I have gone of the concaved bats

Just a rubbish photo tbh, there's little or no concaving at the middle but a very thin toe

I must say the new MSD stickers are great, I love that they are embossed, and if this is the way Spartan are going for next seasons range then fantastic.

The MSD Fighter looks really good with pink as the main colour and even better its less than £100.

Your warrior looks great mate. :)

Pink, sub £100, that sounds like a Spartan bat I'd love!  :D
