Glue in the handle
«
on:

Evening
Following the 'Vintage Bats' post, I have had a look at the GM Diamond. First thing I noticed was the handle way very loose/wobbly/flexible.
Removed the twine expecting the handle to be broken, but it wasn't. It seems that the glue has disintegrated and not longer sticking.
Is there any particular type of glue I should use, or is it good old fashioned PVA?

PVA should do it mate. I'd the tempted to bind tightly with medical tape after instead of trying to re-twine it but that's just me

Standard PVA mate, I'd recommend binding the putting a coat of glue over the string and leave to dry. This will shrink the twine and clamp the handle tightly.

As previously stated use PVA undiluted rebinding by hand can be tricky.

Has the glue broken or has the rubber perished? Hard to see on the photo.

Thanks for the responses guys. I will PVA it this week some time.
I will try to glue and re-bind at same time.
It is just the glue, the rubber is still perfectly intact.

Carefully clean off all surfaces first, gently scrape with a Stanley knife blade or sanding. No point trying to glue onto the old glue
