batting pads creating knee issues??
« on: July 18, 2014, 02:55:21 PM »

I have noticed that my knees have started hurting a bit, especially when I put my pads on and run with them. I wear Morrant pads, which do not have a knee locator – the inner padding is flat all the way up to the knee. I’m wondering if this has ended up a bit more pressure on my knees, while I run between the wickets. Should I switch to pads that have a bit more of a ‘hole’ for the knee?

Can't comment specifically on Morrant pads however I used to always used standard pads without a knee roll - I damaged my knee a few years back taking a diving catch on the boundary (wasn't worth it in hindsight!), I carried on using the same pads however I always had a bit of a niggle when running between the wickets, since switching to pads with a full knee locator the difference in my knee when playing is brilliant - barely feel a thing any more, would highly recommend them.

my only hesitation was whether the plastic cup in the locator area would end up making things worse. perhaps i should look at the ones with gel, instead of hard plastic?
