Rubber soled shoes - which to get?
« on: May 05, 2014, 07:56:56 AM »

Having finally thrown away my oldest pair of Asics Strike Rates in a clear out as they are frankly past it, I am using my slightly newer pair as spikes and need a new pair of rubber soled shoes.

I think I've got down to the Nike Lunar Potential and the Adidas Twenty2 Yards AR14, but I'm unsure which to go with. I have never really used either brand as a cricket shoe.

I run in Adidas trainers and have found them very comfortable but I have never used Nike. Cost isn't an issue.

I'd love to hear from those with experience of either shoe what they've found, and how these two compare with what you have used before!

Looking forward to seeing your comments.

Funny enough that's the choice I've made of what to get. I will more than likely go with the adidas as I've owned the 22yard half spikes for the last 7 years and I've found them to be a comfy and great waring shoe

I just went for a pair of Asics running shoes.
Whenever I need new shoes they're almost always my first port of call

As a bowler on Astro turf and when running around a damp outfield, I don't find that the soles of running shoes are really up to it gripwise. They slide too much. I like to have a bit more grip, hence proper cricket shoes.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum, meaning I'm looking for cheap rubbers - but those that give a better grip than trainers on an indoor surface.

Have you considered Asics Gel Peakes if you are already an Asics fan?

Try W3 footwear with rubber inserts. Very good set up and I use them on astro pitches

New Balance, Nike, Asics and Adidas are all good shoe makers. I don't think there is any disagreement on this.

What will really do it for me is the soles. The Adidas ones look more like field hockey soles, and I expect them to have better grip on a greasy surface. The Nike ones don't look too bad either

I bought the Adidas ones for this season for any Astro pitches and for indoor, they're exactly like my Hockey shoes soles they were great last weekend in our intra club friendly on a greasy/damp artificial wicket.

These are the best one, Asics are brilliant for astro shoes.

Both Adidas and NB rubber sole are top quality. Adidias may have a slight advantage of being lighter. If you are use to adidas then get adidas.
