Giles steps down/resigns as a selector and is replaced by Newell.

Interesting.

Am I the only one who thinks having people involved as a selector who is also a coach/director of cricket at a county is a huge conflict of interest?

His current level is the county game.

Giving him a run at International level has been too much for him.

I bet Carberry's pleased. He might actually be considered of an ODI now.

Yeah it's a massive conflict of interest! Should be neutral people picking the sides

Trouble is you need people with knowledge of the players but if you have anyone from counties you just end up with their players being favoured .

Giles is/was shocking and rightfully is out. Hopefully not involved in junior type set ups either though.
