Off all the bats I have had, handles have been same size when buying SH.
I once came across a kashmir with SSH and it gave me wrist pain trying to play any shots really. I would suggest avoid SSH.
What is the length of a standard short handle vs a super short handle ?
Pretty sure some of the CA Bats have a shorter blade and longer handle, but measure up identical in overall length to a standard short . Similar to a Mongoose COR3, however the blade is slightly longer. Its a 20/20 adaptation to give the bat more bat speed.
I think this could explain the difference.
SSH handles fitted to Pre made bats tend to be thicker and can as previously stated cause wrist pain and also affect shot control they are perhaps more suitable for players with larger hands. due to handle thickness SSH handles can assist with bat speed and pickup. Due to your current bat handle getting caught in your wrist a standard short handle one inch shorter should resolve the problem.
An inch ? John from Red Ink told me that he could fit the bat with what he calls as a 'mini handle' but is shorter than the regular short handle by half an inch. I am not quite sure how long is a standard short handle in a Red Ink.
And how thick is thick ? I have also noticed that some handles are way thicker than others, for example I saw a Hammer the other day and it felt like the bat has pencil thin handle, maybe to offset the weight. The bat was like 2.10 but felt quite heavy. And if you have to measure the width of the handle then do you measure it with the grip or without the grip ?

I have relatively smaller hands. The handle in the Kashmir willow that I have has handle length of 11 inch and blade length of 22 inch. I have never used this bat in practice or match as it is a dud but it feels quite right in my hands. I have posted a few pics here. I grip the bat at the very bottom and there is only a very small gap between my hands. Any suggestion on which handle I should go for ?
