morrant ultralite pads.. what is the correct size??
« on: May 13, 2014, 02:39:03 AM »

I have the "sachin tendulkar" pads. have been using the regular mens (the other option is large) size, but have lately begun to wonder if its too small (the very top of my knee is not covered by the knee roll). here is the dilemma: the morrant website recommends "regular mens" for anyone under 5'9, and "large" for anyone between 5'9 and 6'4. i am exactly 5'9!

i can stick with the current pair, and cop the occasional blow to the knee (more an issue in bouncier indoor nets), OR get the larger size, at the cost of clumsier running between the wickets.

also, not sure if anyone else has experience this, but after two years, the pads have gotten a bit soft. is this normal? i thought these pads were good for 10 years at least!

Keep the smaller ones, shift the padding up a bit.

If you feel you want more padding, just add some more foam, just like the little master!

Hi Mate,
Don't worry about the softening of the pads….thats natural with any pads. I have used this pads for last 14 years with just couple of years break in between just for  a change.I returned to themas nothing else felt as comfortable to wear….tried every light ,two straps and three strap available in the market for those 2 years only to retune to these again.
only problem is to clean them when dirty. I am 5 9 inches and i use large mens…and its not clumsy at all.  but my first one which i used of 11 years was standard size.
no  huge difference to be honest as the inside padding which comes with it is of same size any way.

so, just move that inner pad further up towards the knee roll? won't that leave the shin exposed?

Your knee is more important than your shin. If its a big issue, buy a foam mat off eBay and stick that in there too. Sachin had enough stuffed in there for a mid week ladies yoga class
